I am new to using pgp
I have two different versions of pgp installed on ubuntu 12.04
I want to use the later version (pgp2) how do I configure this from ubuntu

You don't have PGP. You have GnuPG, which is a fully compatible
open-source equivalent.

Assuming you mean you want to use it with Enigmail?

Click on the OpenPGP menu item and click "Preferences."

Check the box that reads "Override with."

To the right of that box, enter "/usr/bin/gpg2"

Click OK.

Presto, you're done.
