Before TrueCrypt was shut down it was occasionally discussed here as a
secure disk encryption.

Is there now a tool to replace TrueCrypt?

Lots of them. It would help if you could tell us which operating system
you're interested in, as TrueCrypt ran on Windows, OS X, Linux, *BSD,
and I think there was even an Android port for it.

I am using windows 7. I want to make encrypted "containers" I believe is
the word to describe want I want to create.

Your best bet is BitLocker. The source is proprietary, but it's easy
for security engineers to get source -- sign an NDA which says "I won't
republish the source code, but I get to talk about any bugs I find" and
MS will had over the source. The data format is published and available
in the open literature.

I wish I could recommend open-source alternatives, but they all pale
compared to BitLocker.

Thank You,

But, I don't believe my version of Windows 7 has BitLocker. I think I
need a higher version of Windows.

To bad for me, I do like easy.

Is there another secure option?

Is there another secure option?
"Secure" isn't a word I'd use. Whether something is secure depends on
the threat: secure against what? TrueCrypt may be secure against
cryptanalysis but insecure against a $1000-a-night hooker an adversary
hired to seduce your secrets out of you.

What I will say is that if you're a fan of TrueCrypt, you might want to
look at VeraCrypt. It's a fork of TrueCrypt, open source, and fixes
some of the (few) security bugs found in the TrueCrypt source audit.
